POLISH CHAMBER OF TEXTILE INDUSTRY

ŁÓD, POLAND

President: Jerzy Wojtkowski, M.Sc., Eng.

The Polish Chamber of Textile Industry is an all-Polish self-governing organisation situated in ŁódŸ, founded in January 1993. The Chamber forms an association of state-owned and private enterprises dealing with fibres, clothing and textile machinery. International trade institutions, research institutes and R&D centres are also members of the Chamber. About 100 members belong to the Chamber.

The Polish Chamber of Textile Industry:

- integrates circles connected to the textile industry,

- promotes this industry in Poland and abroad,

- participates in its restructurisation,

- represents its production and service possibilities.

The Activity of the Chambers consists also of:

- organisation of economic contacts between Polish and foreign enterprises,

- formulating and expressing propositions and conclusions to stimulate the economic animation of this branch,

- co-operation in building an economic infrastructure for the textile industry,

- co-organisation of regional policy in relation to the textile industry sector,

- adaptation of Polish industry to integration with the European Union.

The Polish Chamber of Textile Industry is associated with the Polish Economic Chamber and co-operates with the domestic Chambers, the Gdynia Cotton Association and the Gdynia Wool Federation. It is a source of information for foreign diplomatic agencies about the Polish textile industry, and is often a meeting place for negotiations with the European Union.

At present, when the national economy is undergoing deep reform and the industry is dispersed organisationally, the Polish Chamber of Textile Industry is the single representative institution for the whole Polish textile industry.
