Abstract:

The article is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Department of Textile Technology of Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania). The history, past and present achievements as well as problems of the Department and textile industry of Lithuania are briefly presented .International academic collaboration as well as the situation and peculiarities of textile studies are also presented. The increases in scientific activity, the number of doctoral and master students, the decreases in the number of bachelor students and the reasons for these phenomena are analysed. The situation in the Lithuanian textile industry as well as perspectives on the development of scientific investigations of the Department are also presented and analysed.
